Washington State Medicare Supplemental Plans

Medicare supplement insurance plans are designed to help seniors who want to have little to no worries when choosing their doctor or hospital and cover the gap between what hospitals and doctors charge for their services and what Medicare will pay.  Insurance carriers that offer Medicare Supplement plans are constantly changing their rates and underwriting, so keeping up with it is a daunting task.

Using a Medicare Supplement plan to supplement your Original Medicare coverage will help you lower or virtually eliminate your out-of-pocket expenses and enable you to use the doctor or hospital you want.  Any doctor or hospital that accepts Original Medicare will also accept your Medicare Supplement plan.

Did you know that you can change your Medicare Supplement plan at any time of the year?

There are ten different Medicare Supplement standardized insurance plans – Plans A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N.  Each plan offers different benefits – some more comprehensive than others.  For example, Plan A offers coverage of only the essential benefits of Medicare Supplement Insurance, while Plan F is the most comprehensive.  But that doesn’t necessarily mean that Plan F is the best plan for you.  What does standardized mean?  Take, for example, a Plan F with XYZ carrier; ABC carrier has a Plan F as well; guess what? They both have the same benefits.

To complicate this even further, in the State of Washington, as of this writing, 25 different carriers are offering Medicare Supplement insurance.  Who is the best carrier?  Many of my clients are on either fixed incomes or don’t like spending more money than they have to, so they constantly have me check which carrier has the best rates for their plan.
