Do I need a Medicare Supplement and Tricare for Life

Being in a city with an Air Force base, A question I get frequently is, do I need a Medicare Supplement or Medigap, if I have Tricare for Life.  The short answer is no, you do not need a Medicare Supplement along with Tricare for Life.  The longer answer is I can’t find a good argument that says there is a necessity for a Medicare Supplement along with Tricare for life.  If some insurance agent is telling you that you need a Medicare Supplement and Tricare for Life, ask them to justify it for you.  I personally would love to hear what they have to say.  (Waiting with bated breath). What you do need to do though is if you are aging into Medicare if you need to visit a Military base that has an ID card section within 30 days of the first of the month of your 65th birthday, get your new military ID card, which should also register you in the system for Tricare for Life.  You will also need to enroll in both Parts A and B of Medicare.

I went over doing that extensively here how to enroll into Medicare.

Do you Qualify for Tricare For Life

Not every one that served in the Military qualifies for Tricare for Life, which I personally don’t agree with, but a policy is a policy.  I’ll leave that to the bureaucrats in “the other” Washington to make those decisions. If you get through this process and you don’t happen to qualify for Tricare for Life, I would love the opportunity to earn your business in helping you purchase the right Medicare Supplement plan that meets your specific needs and goals.  352-508-4221
